Joanne – An American who fell in love with the French way of life

My name is Joanne. I was born in California and grew up under the Florida sun. After working several jobs to finance my anthropology studies, I settled in Barcelona, then crossed the Atlantic to explore Quebec, its stunning landscapes and warm hospitality.

Eventually, it was France that won my heart. First in Provence, then Lyon, where I discovered—and instantly fell for—French gastronomy. A true revelation!

Joanne Beudot maison d'hotes à Suce sur Erdre

A passion for sharing, nature & sweet delights

Driven by this passion, I trained in pastry at the National Institute of Bakery and Pastry in Rouen, earning my professional certification (CAP). After a short experience in luxury hotels in Dubai, I returned to France as a pastry chef near Arcachon, helped open a bakery in Blain with my partner, and worked in Orvault before bringing this dream to life: opening our guesthouse in Sucé-sur-Erdre. A place of sharing, nature, and indulgence.

Would you like to know more ? I’d be happy to tell you all about it… over a good glass of wine by the pool.

Our approach

A place committed to sustainable tourism

Here, nature is not just a backdrop - it’s our neighbor, our ally, our daily source of inspiration. We embrace environmentally conscious practices every day.

  • A garden and orchard that welcomes biodiversity
  • Homemade jams and desserts using fruit from the property
  • Filtered water available – reusable bottles provided
  • Reusable cloth napkins & dishware
  • Advanced recycling & composting
  • Eco-friendly cleaning products

Our footprint

Everyday choices guided by sustainability

We’ve designed our space with energy efficiency and durability in mind.

  • Showers instead of bathtubs, double glazing, low-energy appliances
  • Solar panels for electricity production
  • Homemade yogurt served in reusable glass jars
  • Locally sourced, French, and organic products whenever possible
  • Mattresses made in Limoges, coffee machine made in Mayenne
  • Repairable equipment & anti-waste solutions
